December can be a difficult month for students who are not going home for the holidays. For those who don’t want to try outdoor activities or are just looking for extra special events, here are eight events you can’t miss.

Holiday Wreath-Making Workshop

On December 1st, guests are invited to the Yew Street Food Hall for some holiday fun. Get your house holiday-ready and create the perfect Christmas decoration with instructors who will guide you through the process, all while you enjoy tasty food and refreshments. Tickets are $10, and the event will start at 4:00 p.m.

Karaoke Night at The London Creative

On December 4th, grab your jingle bells and warm up your singing voice with Holiday Karaoke Night at The London Creative. Participation in the event is free and will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Sip Sample & Shop with Mocktail Mixery

On December 7th, drink your way into the holiday spirit without consequence, thanks to Mocktail Mixery’s Christmas Open House. The afternoon will be filled with food, conversation and a chance to sample their non-alcoholic beverages. The event will take place from noon to 4:00 p.m.

The Mocktail Mixery is located at 1150 Hillside Dr., in the Aberdeen Court.

Brunch with Santa

On December 8th, return to the Yew Food Hall and have a chat with the man, the myth, the legend, Santa Claus. Experience the joy of the season with festive music and beautiful decorations that will put everyone in the holiday spirit. Brunch with Santa will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tickets are $40 for adults (19+), $25 for children (3 to 18), and $10 for children under three and may be found here.

Stars on Ice with Elvis Stojko

On December 13th at 7:00 p.m., the Stars on Ice Holiday Tour skates into the Sandman Centre. Crash into the holiday spirit with The Stars on Ice Holiday Tour. The event will feature Olympic silver medalist Elvis Stojko, Olympic gold medalist Kaetyln Osmund, and many of the most accomplished figure skaters in the world.

Decemberfest with The Stir

On December 14th, hop down to the Stir and mix your sustainability and holiday spirit with Decemberfest. The Stir Maker Grazing Goat Charcuterie will be vending snacks. Participants can get a professional holiday photo taken, participate in the Evergreen bow-making station, enjoy a warm drink, pick up their Holiday Foodie Box, and more. The event is free to attend and will take place from noon to 4:00 p.m.

Holiday Grouch Acrylic with Sip & Paint

On December 17th, bring out the artist in you and join the Sip & Paint for a fun and festive evening at Westsyder Pub. Channel those ‘grinchy’ vibes and create your own mischievous holiday grouch acrylic masterpiece. The event runs from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $55 per person and can be found here.

New Year’s Eve Dinner and Dance

Last but not least, on December 31st ring in the New Year with a night full of delicious food and unforgettable memories with Colombo Lounge, featuring an appetizing meal and great music. Kick off the night with cocktails, followed by dinner, and then get ready to move and groove as you dance your way into 2025.
