After an all-out battle Friday night that saw the WolfPack hunt down the UFV Cascades, the men’s team is once again in action as they take on the Trinity Western Spartans in Hillside Stadium tonight at 4 p.m.
During today’s game, the ‘Pack will honour the victims and survivors of Canada’s residential schools by recognizing Truth & Reconciliation Day, while also raising awareness for the Moose Hide Campaign.
After last night’s victory over the UFV Cascades – which secured the men’s soccer team the last spot in this year’s playoffs – the ‘Pack will be on a mission to keep their forward momentum going.
After last year’s victory against UBC in the final of the tournament, TRU was off to a rough start this season. However, with help from defenceman Svyatik Artemenko – who just this year joined the team – the ‘Pack fought back, working hard to improve their standings.
“We didn’t have the best of starts. We finally got the season turned around. With one victory we’re back in the playoffs,” Artemenko said, prior to last night’s game. “I feel really confident that we’re going to get two wins this weekend.”
With the results of the last game, TRU improved their standings in the Pacific Division to 3-5-1, with a total of nine goals this season, trailing only slightly behind the Spartan’s whose standings sit at 3-2-5 with an impressive 10 goals.
Tonight’s game is the 2nd of 5 games tol be played on the home field for the ‘Pack.
All WolfPack games are free for TRU students with a valid student ID, shown upon entry, while general tickets may be purchased at the entrance or online here.
