Contributor (Volunteer)
Contributing articles to The Omega is the best way to be considered for future staff (paid) positions. It is also a great line on your resume to show prospective employers you engaged with your education beyond completing your classes and provides valuable portfolio work to show off. While prior experience is preferred for all positions, it is not required and no application is necessary. If you’re interested in contributing, reach out to our editor.
All staff members of The Omega can pursue a variety of learning opportunities within the operation, including online and print publishing, photography, infographics, special editorial projects and more in co-ordination with the Editor-in-Chief.
Eligibility requirements
All Omega staff members producing editorial content must be students at Thompson Rivers University and enrolled in classes during the term in which they work.
As an independent publication, The Omega endeavours to avoid conflicts of interest in editorial content and as such, cannot employ Thompson Rivers University communications or marketing staff members or TRU Students’ Union representatives. If you are unsure about whether or not you are eligible, please contact the manager.
Submit your application
To submit an application for a paid position, send a resumé, cover letter and samples of your work to manager@theomega.news. Please indicate which positions you are interested in and any learning objectives you have for the coming year.
Candidates selected for interviews will be contacted via email to set a date and time for an interview.
