1. Monster: The Ed Gein Story (October 3rd) (Netflix) (TV Drama, Crime, Horror)

The Monster anthology series comes back with another go at a new high-profile killer that has captured the world’s attention. This year, the series focuses on Edward Gein (Charlie Hunnam), a murderer, grave robber and suspected serial killer from Plainfield, Wisconsin. Set in the 1950s, the viewer sees Gein as a reclusive, troubled man who appears to be incapable of such horrid acts.

During the 1950s, news of Gein’s alleged crimes reached so many people that he is often attributed as the real-life prototype for many of Hollywood’s most disturbing villains, acting as the inspiration for characters such as Norman Bates in Psycho, Leatherface in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Buffalo Bill in The Silence of the Lambs. This series is sure to make your skin crawl as Netflix presents viewers with a shocking true story of another American serial killer.

2. The Chair Company (October 12th) (HBO) (TV, Comedy, Thriller)

Tim Robinson produces The Chair Company, where he stars as Ron Trosper, a common project manager who finds his life turned upside down following a humiliating situation in his office. Following the incident, Trosper begins to spiral, launching a bizarre investigation into the chair company responsible for the furniture mishap. This series delivers the perfect mix of tension and comedy, led by a comedy master.

3. Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: DeathWatch (October 14th) (Netflix) (TV, Animation, Thriller, Action & Adventure)

If you’re looking for a beautifully animated spy thriller, Netflix has got your back. In Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, audiences will follow the tale of Sam Fisher (Liev Schreiber), a former CIA agent who many regard as a rumour or an urban legend. After a year-long absence, Fisher is thrust back into action as he helps a new recruit expose a global conspiracy. Get ready to hold your breath as you jump into action with twists at every dark corner.

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Deathwatch has been renewed for season two, making it the perfect time to watch this eye-catching spy thriller.

4. Loot Season 3 (October 15th) (Apple TV+) (TV sitcom, Dark Comedy)

If you’re looking for a good laugh, Maya Rudolph is here to help with the latest season of her dark comedy series. In Loot, audiences follow Molly (Maya Rudolph) after she divorces her husband of 20 years, John (Adam Scott), and is awarded an $87 billion settlement. Molly ultimately decides to return to her old charity to reconnect with the rest of the world and possibly find herself along the way. Loot is melodramatic and hilarious in the most perfect ways. This season, Rudolph’s character continues her journey of self-discovery. Absconding to a private island, Molly quickly discovers that escaping her past is easier said than done. Apple TV once again delivers a fun, heartwarming TV series that will definitely make you laugh, with the help of a comedy legend.

5. Murdaugh: Death in the Family (Hulu/Disney+) (TV True Crime, Drama)

Hulu comes in hot with Murdaugh: Death in the Family, a TV miniseries based on a true story from Mandy Matney’s long hours of reporting, which follows South Carolina lawyer Alex Murdaugh (Jason Clarke), a man pushed into a new life when he discovers his wife Maggie (Patricia Arquette) and his son Paul (Johnny Berchtold) murdered outside their home. This limited series delves into the world of wealth and influence, examining how some individuals mistakenly believe that such blessings can shield them from scandals and tragedies. Each episode peels a new layer of power and deceit, revealing new plots that will make you clutch your pearls every single minute.

6. The Hand That Rocks the Cradle (Hulu/Disney+) (Movie, Thriller)

Hulu reimagines a 1992 classic as a chilling new thriller that follows the life of a suburban couple, Caitlin (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Miguel Morales (Raul Castillo), who hire a new caretaker, Polly (Maika Monroe), to look after their newborn baby. When the couple quickly realizes she isn’t who she seems to be, their world is thrust into chaos. For audiences, Monroe’s character is a mysterious, enigmatic and cunning woman, hiding her dark secrets in a lockbox and revealing her cards when it best suits her.

This film is perfect for those looking for a mix between thrilling and soap opera flicks that will make it impossible to look away.

7. IT: Welcome to Derry (HBO) (TV Horror, Fiction, Mystery)

Pennywise (Bill Skarsgard) is back and scarier than ever in his new prequel series based on the wildly popular Stephen King novel, IT.

IT: Welcome to Derry is set in 1962, a town with a dark history. Episode one follows four school-aged children —Teddy, Phil, Lilly and Ronnie —as they attempt to unravel the mystery surrounding the disappearance of one of their classmates. With every episode, the story goes deeper and deeper into the macabre history behind the entity known as Pennywise the Dancing Clown and his connection to Derry. For horror fanatics, this series will have you glued to the screen every Sunday night. Just remember, IT feeds on fear, so don’t get too scared, or you may float too.
