Across North America and parts of Europe, February is Black History Month. This year, the Afro-Caribbean Students Association (ACSA) celebrates the occasion by inviting the community to a night of music, appetizers and drinks when they host the first ACSA Black-tie Cocktail Gala on Feb. 17.
“Celebrating Black music” will be the event’s theme and will highlight local black artists who are part of the Kamloops (Tkʼemlúps) and TRU community. The evening will feature performances by Black singers, songwriters, dancers, rappers and DJs.
Although this is the first gala hosted by the ACSA, organizers have promised an unforgettable experience that will feature local Black artists honouring the history and contributions of the Black community. Attendees will be immersed in dancing and music to commemorate the achievements of Black individuals.
The ACSA Cocktail Gala will be held on Feb. 17 in the Mountain Room at the Campus Activity Centre (CAC) starting at 7:00 p.m. Admission to the black-tie, traditional dress gala must be purchased from Eventbrite here as they will not be sold at the door.
Additional information and updates for the event, including its dress code, can be found on the ACSA Instagram page.
