With the end of 2025, the yearly Game Awards have also come and gone, with some surprising games taking home awards and featuring news about new, unannounced titles coming in the future. With a diversity of announcements, the Omega has compiled some of the biggest reveals to come out of the show.
Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic
A new game set in the Star Wars universe was announced at the Game Awards, exploring the uncharted era of the Old Republic, a time in the Star Wars lore that predates the films by thousands of years, when the Holy Order of the Jedi Knights was at its peak. The surprise announcement featured a CGI trailer setting an atmospheric and gritty tone, showcasing a starship landing on a rainy planet and a force user igniting a lightsaber…classic Star Wars *chef’s kiss*.
The game is described as a single-player action role-playing game (RPG) that relies heavily on narrative and player choices. Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic is being developed by a newly founded Canadian studio, Arcanout Studios, led by industry veteran Casey Hudson, the original director of The Knights of the Old Republic and the Mass Effect trilogy. Together, they work to deliver a ‘spiritual successor’ to the beloved classic, developing this new story using the latest tech with Unreal Engine 5. The game is still in early development and has no confirmed release date, but community rumours suggest it will arrive around 2030, so fans have a long wait ahead.
Control: Resonant
Control: Resonant is part of the Remedy Entertainment universe, expanding the world after the release of the original Control in 2019. The first game follows Jesse Faden, the director of a secret government agency, as she navigates a reality-shifting headquarters while uncovering the truth of her past and fighting against an evil supernatural entity known as ‘the Hiss.’ This new installment now focuses on Dylan Faden, Jesse’s brother, with the story taking place several years later, as similar paranormal entities begin spilling into the real world. The announcement was accompanied by a cinematic trailer that emphasized an unsettling, morbid tone, depicting a distorted city infested with monsters in the classic Control aesthetic.
Control: Resonant is a single-player action RPG that expands on combat, exploration, progression and world interaction, now set across a broken Manhattan. The game has been described as Remedy’s most ambitious project to date, with a larger scope and scale in combat and world design. Control: Resonant is currently scheduled to launch this year on all current-gen platforms; no specific release date has been announced.
Divinity
Divinity was announced with tension and mystery being built up before the award show, as a mysterious statue coined as a ‘Hellstone’ had been teased online. The reveal was accompanied by an eerie cinematic trailer that hinted at a dark, ritualistic horror story. It was confirmed that the game is being developed and published by Larian Studios, the Belgian studio behind the 2023 Game of the Year, Baldur’s Gate 3. The new title marks a return to the franchise for the team responsible for developing the older Divinity RPGs and has been described as Larian’s biggest and most ambitious RPG yet, even larger than the 80-120 hour BG3. Divinity has been confirmed to be a turn-based RPG, designed with gaming veterans and newcomers in mind.
Divinity is in very early development. Neither potential platforms nor release date have been announced.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Tomb Raider: Catalyst
Lara Croft is back! During the 2025 Game Awards, fans of the popular Tomb Raider franchise were treated to not one, but two massive reveals in the form of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Tomb Raider: Catalyst.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is the reimagining of the original Tomb Raider game from 1996, featuring a young Lara Croft as she explores exotic locations lost in time while searching for the legendary pieces of the Scion. Developed by Crystal Dynamics and in collaboration with Flying Wild Hog, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is scheduled for 2026 for all current-gen consoles, built from the ground up using Unreal Engine 5 for modern visuals, design and gameplay.
Tomb Raider: Catalyst is a new mainline adventure under the Tomb Raider name, continuing Lara Croft’s insane adventures. Set in Northern India after a mythical cataclysm that has unleashed ancient secrets and awakened mysterious new forces, Lara Croft now races against rival treasure hunters to find and uncover the truths of these powerful artifacts. Developed by Crystal Dynamics, in partnership with Amazon Game Studios, Tomb Raider: Catalyst is described as the largest Tomb Raider yet, with expansive, rich environments like jungles, mountains and ruins for players to explore.
Tomb Raider: Catalyst is scheduled to release in 2027 for all current-gen platforms.
Forest 3
Lastly, but definitely not least, the Game Awards revealed the new entry in the Forest franchise with Forest 3.
The Forest franchise is a survival horror series developed by independent studio Endnight Games. The second sequel in the series was revealed with a short teaser trailer showcasing a major franchise shift from the first-island setting to a sci-fi/alien world, as a starship malfunctions and crash-lands on an unknown, swamp-like alien planet. Gameplay details have not yet been revealed, but the short teaser suggests the game will retain first-person survival mechanics, including resource gathering and crafting.
Forest 3 is currently in early development, with no official release date and no platform confirmation.
