On March 6, Thompson Rivers University’s Williams Lake campus will hold its third Explore TRU event.
The Williams Lake campus is located approximately three hours north of Kamloops, on T’exelc territory within the unceded traditional lands of the Secwépemc Nation, at the centre of the Cariboo region. The small campus offers a close-knit community and friendly environment for those interested in a quieter and calmer lifestyle. Small class sizes, hands-on learning, and the opportunity to form stronger relationships with community members make it a great place to learn.
The event, which will take place from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., welcomes prospective and current students, parents, and interested members of the public to tour the grounds, engage in fun activities, and interact with the community within and around the campus.
For the past three years, Explore TRU has been an important resource for individuals looking to continue or begin a new educational journey, as well as those interested in upskilling or building a new career path.
The Williams Lake campus has programs ranging from agricultural sciences, nursing, human services and education to robust trades and technology offerings. Their focus is on connecting education with practical career pathways, and they are equipped to guide students at any stage in life through this process.
Attendees at Explore TRU will have the opportunity to build connections, discover what programs are right for them, and learn about the campus’s resources and opportunities.
Several additions to the program have been planned for this year, including career-building workshops led by TRU’s career and experiential learning team and supported by Kathy Lauriente, a registered clinical counsellor and TRU’s counselling program coordinator. In addition, the Study Abroad program now offers Williams Lake students the chance to develop experience internationally as part of their degree.
The event is family-friendly, which means guests are welcome to bring their loved ones on the tour with them. No registration is required, and the doors will be open to anyone who shows up within the set time. To learn more about the event, visit its events page or contact the student development and events coordinator, Kim Kimberlin, at kkimberlin@tru.ca.
